Conic: entirely wood-based packaging in cosmetics

The prototype Conic is a new solution that will enable brands to reach their sustainability targets while maintaining their premium position. Conic is a solution developed by Holmen Iggesund, The Loop Factory and Grow Future Packaging Lab.

The Yangi Dry Forming Technology is a new way of shaping cellulose material to replace up to 40% of rigid plastics used in packaging. In the case of this collaboration project, the material was used to create a completely wood-based formable premium packaging solution with a refill function.

The prototype illustrates how three-dimensional products, such as cups and trays, which are usually made from plastics can be made from sustainable materials. The design of the container mirrors the shape of the pod, creating a visual comparison of the materialistic qualities of each component. By leveraging the refractive quality of the outer packaging you can enhance the details on the container within.

Being entirely wood-based, Conic is also biodegradeable. Learn more about each part here.

Conic will enable brands to reach their sustainability targets while maintaining their premium position. The new solution uses an emerging technology to replace plastics with natural materials for formable products.
